Wakefield School Basketball Camps
Scholarship Opportunity

Once again, Wakefield School will be giving away a scholarship to the
Triple Threat Basketball’s Overnight Camp in Greensboro, NC.  This
offer is available for WYSC athletes between the ages of 10-15.  Younger
campers can win the same free week of camp at the Triple Threat day camp
at Wakefield mentioned in the information below.  Wakefield School is
sponsoring the spot at the Triple Threat Overnight Basketball Camp.
This is a 100% scholarship to one athlete from the WYSC.  The
scholarship includes tuition, room, board and round trip transportation
from Warrenton, VA.   In order to be eligible for the free week of
camp all any interested party need do is send their name, address, email
address and phone to:

There will be a random drawing held on June 1.  Campers who have already
signed up are eligible and would receive a refund in the event they win.

OVERNIGHT CAMP AT AMERICAN HEBREW ACADEMY

GREENSBORO, NC

August 2nd-6th, 2009

The camp is open to boys and girls aged 10-15.  The groups are housed in
separate, secure, supervised dormitories on the campus of the American
Hebrew Academy.

Fees:

The cost of the overnight program is $375.00.  This fee covers room and
board, camp tee shirt, guest speakers and round trip transportation from
the Warrenton, VA area via bus.
 
While at camp the players are welcome to use the swimming pool in the
evening break and enjoy the use of the student center and dorm lounges.

Schedule:

The camp begins on Sunday, August 2nd with 2:00 check-in and room
assignments.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday camp begins with 7:15am wake-up and ends
at 10:30pm with lights out.  In between the day is FILLED with
basketball.  Breaks happen for lunch, dinner and evening social events.
Camp ends Thursday at 12:00 noon, immediately following the Camp Award
ceremony and Camp Olympics.


Other Triple Threat Camps Include:

Session I- June 22-25 at Highland School, Warrenton, VA

Evening Camp from 5pm-9pm

Cost $125.00

This camp is specifically designed for campers who are involved in
daytime activities and will stress skill development and technique
refinement.


Session II- July 27-31 at Wakefield School

Day Camp from 9am-3pm

Cost $230.00

This extended day camp will keep your house quiet.  Extensive
programming keeps the players moving and their skills developing.  Last
year over 50 players attended this VERY full week of Very full days.
Before and Aftercare are available for this session through Wakefield
School.

Session III- August 2-6 at American Hebrew Academy

Overnight Camp in Greensboro, NC
 
Cost 375.00

The camp is housed at the American Hebrew Academy in Greensboro, NC; a
facility that rivals the finest prep schools in the nation.  Our campers
are housed in beautiful, air conditioned dorms on the 100 acre wooded
campus.

PLAYERS' CHOICE ALL STAR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

THE PLAYERS’ CHOICE ALL STAR TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

Due to a general disinterest and unavailability of players and volunteers, the Tournament has been cancelled.

Who:       WYSC basketball players ages 9 & up

What:      WYSC Players’ Choice All Star Basketball Tournament

When:     March 28, 2009 beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Where:    Fauquier High School and Wakefield

Why:       For the fun of it! (and to raise money for the club)

How:      Details will be posted regarding registration/selection details for this tournament.

Children with a WYSC jersey will get in free, adults will be charged $3 and children without a jersey will be charged $1

Winter 2009 Basketball Program
Week of 1/5/09 Starts the Season

The beginning of the 2009 Winter Basketball Season has arrived!  Registration is now closed. 

WINTER 2009 - IMPORTANT DATES
Mark Your Calendars!

Important Dates for the Winter 2009 Season are as follows:

▪ Player Evaluations will be held on November 15th and November 16th, 2008 at the following two venues.
   ▪ Fauquier High School (central and southern region).
   ▪ Wakefield School in the Plains (northern region).

▪ The Draft will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 - venue to be determined.

▪ Team practice and game schedules will be posted by December 22, 2008.

▪ Practices will start the week of January 5, 2009.

▪ The first games will be scrimmages and are scheduled for Saturday, January 10th - no referees will be officiating.

▪ The second week of games are scheduled for Saturday, January 17th at which time referees will officiate.

▪ The season will include 8 Saturday games.

▪ The last regular season game will be played on Saturday, February 28th.

▪ Playoffs are scheduled for Saturday, March 7th (semi-finals) and March 14th (finals). 

▪ Division championships are scheduled for March 21, 2009.

Refunds
If you are interested in receiving a refund, please follow the steps below: 

  • Refund requests need to be sent,  via e-mail, to recregistrar@wysc.org by the first game of the season.
  • Once we receive your email, WYSC will send a confirmation email to you.
  • All refunds are assessed a $10.00 refund fee except registrations received during the early registration period.
  • Late fees and donations are not refundable.
  • Refund checks will be mailed after the 4th week of the season.
