Warrenton Adult Soccer League Rules 

 Players and Roster: 

 1. Recreational division players must be at least 25 years of age to participate.

 2. Only players listed on the official roster may participate in league play.

 3. NO guest players will be allowed to play.

 4. A player cannot be on more than one roster per season.

 5. A team consists of a max of 16 players, minimum of 12 players.

 6. Once a player is registered on a team, the player cannot be dropped from team roster. 

 7. Players may be added to a team at anytime during the season, up to the 16 player roster max.

 8. Players not requesting to be placed on a specific team, will be assign to a team by the league registrar. 

 Game Time:

1. Regulation games consist of 2 x 40 minute halves with a 5 minute half-time and no overtime.

 2. If a game in progress is called off due to inclement weather or field conditions, the game will be considered official if it has reached or past the halfway point.

 3. Each team will play with 8 players on the field, 1 of those players will be the goalie.

 4. Games may start with as long as each team can field 6 players including the goalie.

 5. A team will have 10 minutes from the start time to field a team with the minimum roster of 6 players.

 6. Waiting time will be deducted from game time.  

 7. If a team is unable to field a team, within the 10 minutes grace period, the team able to field 6 players will win the game, with a 2-0 score.

 8. A forfeiture will be awarded if a team is not ready to play within 10 minutes of the scheduled match.

 9. Upon request from referee, or opposing team, managers must be able to provide to the referee, a roster approved, by league director. Player cards, for each player must be included with the official team roster. 

 10. Teams unable to provide an official roster, including player cards, will forfeit the game.   

 11. Regular season games may end in a tie. 

 12. Point will be awarded as indicated in Standings section of the rules.

 13. Team having scored the greater number of goals will be considered the game winner. 

Equipment: 

  1. Team uniforms must consist of same colored shirts for all players.
  2. The away team will change shirts if there is a color conflict.
  3. Uniform must have unique numbers.
  4. The home team supplies the game ball.  The ball will be size 5.
  5. Only soccer/athletic shoes are acceptable. Sneakers may be worn. No “street shoes” or metal-cleated shoes allowed.
  6. Shin-guards are required.  

 Referee:

 1. All Association coaches, players and adult spectators must recognize the referee as the sole authority      over the game. As specified under the FIFA Rules, maintaining respect for the referees is of vital importance to successful soccer. Behavior, which falls below this standard of respect and interferes with the referee’s ability to officiate, will not be tolerated. Any incidents will be subject to Association Board review and discipline.

 2. All games shall be officiated by a 3 referee system.

 3. If the assigned referee fails to appear within ten minutes after scheduled game time, the teams may appoint a substitute referee by mutual agreement. Such appointment of a substitute referee shall be binding for the game. Should the assigned referee appear after a substitute has been assigned, the teams may allow him to officiate the game 

 Standings

1.Game point will be awarded as follows:

ü Game winner 3 points.

                     ü Tied games, 1 point each team

                    ü 0 points for a loss.

2. The team with the highest number of points will be declared the regular season 1st place team.

3. The rest of the teams will be seated based on accumulated points.    

4. In case of multiple teams having the same number of points at the end of the regular season, the following tie breaker will be used to determine team standings:

  •     Highest number of goals scored for. 
  •     Highest goal differential (Goals scored for minus goals scored against.) 
  •     Head to head competition.
  •    Coin flip.  

 

 Playoffs:

 1.      Top 4 teams of a division will be invited to the playoffs.

 2.      Playoffs will be single eliminations.

 3.      Semi-finals will be played the first week of playoffs.

 4.      Semi-finals game structure will be as follows; 

 ü The 1st place team against the 4th place team.

 ü The 2nd place team against the 3rd place team.

 5.      The winner of each of the semi-final games will be invited to the championship game.

 6.      The winner of the 1st place team against 4th place team semi-final game will be considered the championship home team.

 7.      In case of a tie at the end of regulation time during the semi-final or championship games, the winner will be decided by "Golden Goal" rule.

 8.      Golden Goal will be played with two 15 minutes periods. First team to score wins.

 9.      In case of a tie at the end of the "Golden Goal" rule time. Winner will be decided by Penalty Kicks.

 10.   During Penalty Kicks period, only the players on the field at the end of the Golden Goal 2nd period are permitted to participate in the penalty kicks. No player substitution will be permitted during Penalty Kicks period.

 11.   Each team’s goalie, at the end of the Golden Goal 2nd period, will be required to be the team goalie during the Penalty Kicks.

 12.   In case the goalie is injured during the Penalty Kicks, one of the field players participating in the Penalty Kicks will be permitted to act as team goalie. 

MISCELLANEOUS:

 1. Slide tackling from behind is NOT allowed and is treated as possible red card.

 2. There is no restriction as per where the players live.  Non-county residences are allowed to play.

 3. RED-Carded players may not be replaced and must sit out for the game in which they’re ejected and the team’s next scheduled game. A red card for fighting may result in the player or team expulsion from the league.

4. Failure to keep the carded player out of the next game results in the forfeiture of that game.

5. Providing misleading information about a carded player may result in further disciplinary actions.

6. A team that is issued three red cards will loose three points in the standings.

7. WYSC reserves the right to dismiss any player or team from the league that consistently display dangerous play. No financial reimbursement will be made to such players or teams for missed games. WYSC’s decisions regarding such cases are final.

8. In case of inclement weather, check www.wysc.org web site for latest update. Postponed games will be rescheduled later; teams will be given at least one week’s notice in such cases.

9. Referee will be responsible of reporting final score of each game to the league representative.

10. Unlimited substitution shall be permitted by the team in possession of the ball on the throw-in.

11. All forfeit games will be score with a 2-0 score.
